Sardinia catamaran charter

Sardinia catamaran charter – suggested itinerary

Sardinia is one of the most beautiful and important yacht charter locations in the Western Mediterranean. From April to September there is plenty of sunshine with warm winds off the African continent, the climate can be quite delightful and not quite as hot as other yacht charter areas in the Mediterranean.

Over 25% of the island’s territory is protected – with three national parks – Asinara, La Maddalena, and Gennargentu. There are also 60 wildlife reserves, 5 W.W.F oases, 25 natural monuments, and a Geomineral Park, preserved by UNESCO. There are many marine reserves and the best way to experience this natural bounty is by boat. Sardinia Catamaran Charter offers an exciting mix of luxury, natural beauty, culture and history with chic ports, Italian restaurants, world famous designer shops and beach clubs.

Have a look at our suggested itinerary, of course you can change it upon your preferences and based on weather, together with your Captain:

Day 1

Sailing north from Marina di Portisco, you can go towards the unforgettable island of Mortorio, famous for its white beaches surrounded by the local pink granites, findings many landings . Further east, the other unmissable stop is the island of Caprera. The waters in the surroundings are extraordinarily beautiful, the small coves and beaches are set among granitic rocks, thus offering wonderful berths like Cala Portese, Cala Brigantino, Porto Garibaldi and Cala Coticcio, an open -south inlet, known as Tahiti for its beauty, therefore a  boating destination. On the island, among the green pine wood, we find the museum dedicated to Garibaldi, that commemorates his stay on the island until his death .

Day 2 & 3

For jet-set and night -life lovers there is plenty to choose from. You can land straight at Poltu Quatu, (hidden port), able to moor up to 450 boats up to 35 metres long, where you can spend the night and have a good time at the famous clubs of the port. Then, let’s sail towards La Maddalena. In all the archipelago you must pay attention to all the shallows. Even if they are well -marked you must know them very well and previously locate them in the nautical charts. Stop at Cala Francese – this secluded beach is one of the island’s most beautiful. Set in the southern part of La Maddalena, the combination of green shrubbery, bleached white granite, and emerald sea makes for a postcard-perfect place to relax. Bassa Trinità beach: As well as fine white sand to play on and ultra-turquoise water to splash in, sunset here is particularly impressive, so stick around for that.

Day 4

Continuing to sail northward we find Spargi, known for the beauty and the transparency of its waters reflecting the granitic color of the rocks and the small beaches with fine sand like Cala Corsara. Let’s keep sailing towards the three islands of Budelli – Santa Maria – Razzoli. Here you can admire the wonderful pink beach of Budelli, which is today protected. Bright pink, orange and salmon-tinted bits of crushed coral, crystals, fossils and dead marine creatures such as microscopic prawns’ skeletons cover the beach, giving the shore a sparkling strawberry hue similar to that of the sun when it starts to set. Immediately after –  Manto della Madonna (The Virgin’s mantle), an enchanting stretch of water surrounded by the three islands: this is a sought -after destination for all boats in the area . You can then visit the bays of Cala Trana north of Budelli , Cala Lunga west of Razzoli , Cala Muro north of Santa Maria , all sharing turquoise waters, white sand, pink granites, a great amount of fishes and lobsters, the always fresh but sheltered wind of the Bocche … in a word, the sailor’s paradise.

Day 5 & 6

We finally reach Santa Teresa di Gallura, the northernmost east coast, with its characteristic Longosardo port, located inside a fiord. It has more than 600 moorings and pier berths and it has all facilities, including a petrol station . This port is also considered a good starting point for an exciting cruise, about 9 miles long, to Bonifacio, sailing across the notorious Bocche. Lavezzi Reserve is surely worth a visit, named after the wild and completely private island. The reserve covers an outstanding area from a naturalistic point of view, from Bruzzi peninsula to the Cerbicale and Moine islands, the white cliffs of Bonifacio and the Ventilegue. Under water… A true submerged treasure, an amazing variety of fish, algae and colors that will fascinate and never stop to amaze you during your Sardinia Catamaran Charter.

Sardinian Cuisine

Sardines, rock lobster, squid, tuna, scampi, bottarga, and other seafood are predominant in Sardinian cuisine. This is fresh and simple Mediterranean seafood at its best. Also, wild boar and suckling pig in bean and vegetable stews. Variety of Sardinian cheeses, great wines and seasonal fresh fruits – onboard Sardinia Catamaran Charter your personal chef (if requested) will be able to gather fresh local Sardinian ingredients and create a Sardinia inspired gourmet menu for you to taste, as well as any other cooking style you might request.

Intriguing ancient history

Phoenician sailors, Romans, Byzantines, Saracen raiders, Spaniards, and African Berber pirates, famines survived on wild ferns and weeds, kidnappings, and political subversion – Sardinia has a unique heritage dating from 4000 BC. Much of this history is apparent from remnants and influences on the coastline and can be seen from your boat. Some of the best sites, however, require a shore trip and you can ask your captain or charter broker to organize this for you.
